Our Story

Conception Media is born out of a sincere desire to provide honest and accurate information to the public, based on the knowledge that the solutions to our greatest issues and conflicts lie in reason, understanding, and the bonds of our common humanity.

Mark Manning started his working career at 17 as a deep-sea construction diver, plying his trade on the world’s oceans for over 20 years. The sea became his teacher and the lessons learned have set his course through life.

At 40 he changed careers and became a filmmaker. Following the attacks of 9/11, Manning produced a documentary project that sought answers to the questions of identity and purpose so many were asking. Manning traveled throughout the United States, delving deep into the American psyche. From Main Street to Wall Street, American Voices uncovers a citizenry of deep convictions and emphatic opinions, largely influenced by media forces yet lacking real facts to back up their beliefs.

A Foundation Formed in War.

During this journey across America, the Iraq war began. With a new understanding of the crisis of inaccurate information in the media, Manning decided to travel to Iraq. Through a unique set of circumstances, he found himself reporting from ground zero of the aftermath of the largest battle of the Iraq war, in Fallujah. He became one of the only un-embedded, independent western journalists to gain access inside this forbidden city, and produced two internationally acclaimed documentaries, Caught in the Crossfire and The Road to Fallujah. His firsthand experience of the massive human suffering in Iraq has shaped his determination for a more just and effective media.
